During this tour, we will enjoy different micro climates and panoramic views of gigantic volcanoes. While we ascend 4000m / 13123ft on board the cable car system called “El Teleférico”, you will discover snowcapped peaks and a unique perception of the topography that surrounds the city of Quito.
No words can explain the experience of visiting the Middle of the World. It is a magical place where the earth is divided into the northern and southern hemispheres by the equator, an imaginary line drawn right around Earth’s middle, like a belt.
After visiting parallel 0 and its museums we will go to Pululahua volcano where we will have a firsthand view of its dormant caldera. We finish the day by visiting the Intiñan solar museum.

To stand on the middle of the world is special enough, but to be able to understand the culture, history, and tradition of this beautiful capital city makes this an unforgettable day. Our trip takes us to one of the many look-out-points in this city, helping us to comprehend its vertiginous geography. From The Teleferico (cable car), at 4000m/1327ft we get impressive views of Quito and the Andes mountains.
Leaving Quito behind, we continue to the iconic Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World Monument), located at latitude 0°-0°-0° to straddle the north and south along the imaginary equatorial line that divides the world into two hemispheres. Today´s visit is completed with the Initiñan Museum that features a number of interactive exhibits demonstrating events that occur only on the equator. These include the complex Coriolis Effect, as well as simple, but effective and entertaining, demonstrations such as water going down a drain with no whirlpool, eggs balancing on the head of a nail, and the loss of muscle strength experienced when standing precisely on the line of the equator. We will finish our day by visiting the look-out point of the dormant volcano Pululahua and its massive crater.
