Quito has the best-conserved historic district in Latin America. Discover with us Timeless Quito and the most important attractions of this time-capsule of a neighborhood in the historical heart of Quito.
Quito’s fascinating convents, churches, squares and neighborhoods are the epitome of great architecture with their splendid interiors from the “Escuela Quiteña de Arte”, an artistic movement that begun in the XVI century as a demonstration of the fusion between European and indigenous cultures.
Today, Quito is a metropolis of many contrasts that the tourist can appreciate as they move through the city. The stone and wood seems to have been tamed to create the most fine and polished religious representations. Live and learn with us about the history, art, culture and traditions that lead UNESCO to declare Quito’s “Old Town” as a World Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Visiting the Historic Center of Quito is like travelling back in time. The cultural and architectural heritage from the 16th century has designated downtown Quito as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. This experience aims to rediscover the most iconic treasures of the Ecuadorian capital, such as the beautiful Jesuit church of the Society of Jesus (La Compañía), a reference for the maximum expression of Latin American baroque, delicately decorated in gold leaf and guarded masterpieces of the greatest exponents from the Quiteño School of Art. Capped by green-and-gold domes, La Compañía de Jesús is Quito’s most ornate church and a standout among the baroque splendors of the Old Town. Next, we will visit the always active San Francisco square and its beautiful church and monastery. This is a meeting point for locals to mingle.
Only from above can one really appreciate the size and the topography of Quito. Our day also includes a visit to Santo Domingo convent with exclusive access to the roof top and domes. From here the birds eye views promise to be as magnificent as the presence of the 135ft statue of the Virgin Mary of El Panecillo in the distance. Later on, we continue to La Ronda historical street to get a glimpse of Quito during the 19th and 20th century.
